Founded in 1949, the Cody Bowmen archery club is a great mix of archers, all very friendly, with a huge range of knowledge and experiences to help those at any stage in their archery journey.
Located on the Pyestock sports grounds off the Old Ively Road as part of the Cody Sports & Social Club, we are easily accessible from Farnborough, Fleet, Aldershot and the surrounding areas.
Over the years the club has taken on various names, formerly known as the DRA Toxophilites (1994-2002), and also the RAE Archery Club (1949-1994) before settling on Cody Bowmen in 2003.
We meet twice during the week and once on the weekend during the planned club sessions, but once you’re a member you can pretty much shoot whenever you like on our dedicated 30m range providing the gates to the sports park are open.
Many members shoot more frequently than the three sessions, but there’s no pressure to attend all the time. You shoot to the times that suit you and the club and it’s members are very accommodating. We also shoot late into the evenings and although our facilities are all outdoors, we have the means to light up our range which has dedicated shelters covering the shooting line and targets. Only the very worst weather keeps us away, and even then we’re still stubborn enough to try!
And it’s not just a 30m range, we have the space to shoot all the way up to the Olympic distances of 70m and further. We also have a permanent field course using a combination of 3D targets and varying distances designed to test your aim and in some cases flexibility. We can’t make it too easy!
We run regular “have-a-go” days followed by beginners courses, but if you’re a seasoned archer or want to take a look outside of these sessions then please feel free to get in contact so that we can arrange a suitable time for you to pop down, take a look around and say hello.
